Brand Sizing Quirks
Popular international brands utilize slightly different sizing standards. Understanding these helps you avoid returns.
Nike (Footwear)
Quirk: True to SizeNike's European conversion is standard for US Men's. However, their women's models often experience tighter mid-foot holds. When converting from KR (mm), stick closely to standard US equivalent.
Adidas (Footwear)
Quirk: 1/3 Scale EUAdidas shoes utilize third-increments in European charts (e.g. 42 2/3, 43 1/3). This sometimes makes Adidas shoes feel slightly wider/roomier compared to Nike. It is recommended to size down by 0.5 US size if you want a perfect snug fit.
Zara (Apparel)
Quirk: European Slim FitAs a Spanish brand, Zara apparel is drafted on European slim cuts. Standard tops run tight across the chest and shoulders. If you reside in the US and usually buy US Medium, consider ordering Zara Large for a relaxed lay.
H&M (Apparel)
Quirk: Relaxed/VaryingH&M sizes historically run slightly larger and have shifted to align closer to standard US sizing. They feature multiple distinct cuts (Slim Fit vs Relaxed/Oversized). Check tags carefully since Relaxed fits run very large.
Regional Sizing Standards
Understanding the sizing methodologies utilized across the world's largest apparel hubs.
US Sizing (United States)
Standard in inches for bottom waist sizes. Tops utilize standard Lettering (XS-XXL) or jacket chest sizing in inches. Footwear utilizes standard units based on barleycorn increments.
UK Sizing (United Kingdom)
Close to US sizing but shoes run exactly 1 size smaller than US Men's and 2 sizes smaller than US Women's. UK women clothing sizes are numbered differently (US size + 4 = UK size).
EU Sizing (European Union)
Metric-based calculations. Apparel uses standard chest-waist ratios (e.g. EU 48 corresponds to a 96cm chest). Shoe sizes utilize the 'Paris Point' scale (1 Paris Point = 2/3 cm).
KR Sizing (South Korea)
Utilizes actual millimetric (mm) measurement for footwear (representing foot length directly in mm, e.g. 270mm). Tops are designated in centimeters of chest girth (e.g., Size 100 corresponds to 100cm girth).
